Girls Aloud - St. Trinians theme song
I have chosen the theme song to the film St Trinian's directed by Oliver Parker based on the rebellion of students in a boarding school with many different stereotypical characters i.e. the geeks, goths, posh totties etc. The song was originally performed at the end of the film where band members got in to role and acted as students performing in a school show.
My idea for this track would be to have a mixture of narrative and performance. The performance side would enhance the image of our band as it is a first single where the narrative would allow intertextual references to the film with the concept of a school. This would make the mise en scene more simple to create as shots could be filmed in classes and costumes could be easily put together.
The film is very popular, however, and this may mean that the soundtrack is too, making it more difficult to create a whole new band image. To get around this we could change the concept of 'St Trinanian's' to something else that links to rebellion, for example linking the song to crime where the St Trinian's are a gang perhaps.
