Ladyhawke – Crazy World
I have chosen ‘Crazy World’ by Ladyhawke as a potential song choice which is a track on the album ‘Ladyhawke’. The solo singer/songwriter is actually called Pip Brown but named herself after the Michael Pfeiffer played the character in a 1985 fantasy movie. Most of her music is influenced by the eighties depicting indie and electro pop genres.
My idea for the video is to use a mixture of narrative and performance as this will be the first single it is predominantly focussing on self promotion for the band or artist. Narrative would be used for the verses that have more serious meaningful lyrics. This could be set in interesting locations that change for each verse, for example a seaside, countryside or a city. This could include just one or two people, making it a lot simpler where planning and filming is concerned. The chorus is quite upbeat and so I think it needs to be reflected through the performance side. The band could dress up, maybe in the eighties costumes to reflect the songs initial influences. Instruments may not be necessary, for example, instead of a drum kit, the drummer could simply improvise with what is around, i.e. a dust bin lid, and this would enhance the concept of a ‘Crazy World’.
The song does not yet have a video and Ladyhawke is currently not overly well-known. This makes for a good opportunity to create something original. I think that the main themes that should be portrayed in the video are the different locations to represent the world and positive and fun to represent the crazy side. Overall, I think that this is a good idea and as it would run on a fairly simple concept.
